As I reflect on our journey together, it’s amazing to think about how fate brought us together amidst uncertainty. In those early days of the pandemic, when the world was still adapting to the new normal, we found each other through Hinge. The instant connection we shared was a beacon of hope during a challenging time. And speaking of beacons, I love the playful idea of providing ‘Only Fans’ for guests to cool off – it’s a humorous touch that adds personality to any wedding celebration.

Similarly, the ‘BLOW ME’ basket filled with handkerchiefs is a thoughtful gesture for emotional moments. It’s wonderful how these little details can bring joy and whimsy to what’s often a serious occasion.

As I stood at the altar, it was just me and my thoughts. Losing my dad at 16 had left an indelible mark, and I didn’t want anyone else to fill that void. My brother accompanied my mom down the aisle, while I followed closely behind. The intimacy of the moment was palpable.

The ceremony was a unique blend of humor and heart, courtesy of our dear friend Annette Gallagher, a comedian and officiant extraordinaire.

With no religious undertones to speak of, we sought someone who could bring both levity and eloquence to her words – and Annette delivered. Her speech even included some clever references to Eat Pray Love, leaving not a single dry eye in the crowd.

As we exchanged our vows, Wes strolled down the aisle to an instrumental version of Everlong by Foo Fighters, his favorite band’s iconic tune.

Meanwhile, I made my way to The Wind by Cat Stevens – a poignant choice that resonated deeply with me on this special day.

Following our ‘I dos,’ we walked hand-in-hand back down the aisle, accompanied by the joyful sounds of Perfect Day by Hoku (a nod to the Legally Blonde soundtrack, for all you rom-com fans out there).

As we exchanged vows on a crisp Sunday morning, our wedding theme harmoniously blended Fall’s cozy charm with the warmth and comfort of a Sunday brunch. Upon arrival, guests were warmly welcomed by a ‘Moore- Mosa’, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration. As we made our grand entrance as a couple to Cardi B’s energetic beats in ‘WAP’, we had the entire room chanting in unison, ‘There’s some Moore’s in this house!

‘ – a moment that still brings a smile to my face, despite my aunties’ initial reservations.

Our delectable coffee cake with rich mocha buttercream was the pièce de résistance, while our savory hor d’oeuvres assortment included mini bagels with lox, bite-sized frittatas, fruit kabobs, and an assortment of pastries – a delightful culinary journey that left everyone satisfied.

As we shared our first dance as husband and wife to a soulful cover of Foo Fighters’ ‘Times Like These’, the poignant lyrics resonated deeply with us. Recorded during the pandemic, this version felt like a serendipitous nod to when we first met – a reminder that even in uncertain times, love can flourish.

What I want to emphasize is the significance of this day being a personal experience, one that revolved around my relationship with my partner. The opinions of others were inconsequential in this moment, as it was an intimate celebration of our bond.
