The Photographer Who Will Roadtrip 11 Hours For Her Clients: Catching Up With Angela From Milestone Images

As a long-time supporter of Offbeat Bride, Angela has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the community through sponsorship and contributions. Her passion for non-traditional wedding practices is evident in her defense of Trash The Dress sessions, which resonates deeply with many Offbeat Brides. To delve deeper into her involvement, we conducted a Q&A session with Angela to explore what she’s been working on.

It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from you. How have you been?

It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with you all, but I’m excited to reconnect with the amazing offbeat couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with. As an added bonus, I’m also extending special offers to new and existing clients alike, because I truly adore the unique qualities that offbeat couples bring to the table.

We love all of your couples! We’ve featured Milestone clients a couple of times. What kind of weddings have you shot lately?

As the sun set over Manhattan, I had the privilege of capturing a truly remarkable milestone for two loving gentlemen who’ve shared nearly two decades together. Their love story is deeply rooted in the American immigrant experience, making their union all the more poignant. As we glided past the iconic Statue of Liberty, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of emotion and awe at the power of freedom – a concept that has finally been extended to same-sex couples like these two grooms.

The symbolism was not lost on me as they exchanged their vows, marking a new chapter in their journey together.

You’re in the New York City suburbs, no? Isn’t that practically Canada?

As a travel enthusiast, I’ve developed a strategy to keep my expenses low while exploring new destinations. My rule of thumb is to cap venue fees at $100 for locations more than 100 miles from NYC, plus reimbursement for accommodations and any gas or toll costs I incur. This approach not only helps me save money but also allows me to travel sustainably – I drive a hybrid vehicle, which reduces my carbon footprint.

In fact, I recently had the pleasure of road-tripping with Alicia and Em as they drove in from Brooklyn to marry in an offbeat ceremony. We turned what could have been a long and tedious journey into a fun 11-hour roundtrip adventure!

They did their Offbeat Bride research!

It was truly an honor when this couple reached out five years after first discovering my work online. They initially contacted me in their early stages of planning their wedding, and I had the privilege of guiding them through the process as they prepared to say ‘I do.’ It’s remarkable that they bookmarked my website and revisited it over the years, waiting for the perfect moment to book me for their special day.

What struck me was the fact that same-sex marriage wasn’t even legal in New York at the time – yet they still held onto my work as a beacon of hope, knowing that one day they’d be able to make their love official. It’s a testament to the power of storytelling and the lasting impact my images can have on people’s lives.

Wow, you really get to know your clients before their weddings, huh?

As a photographer, I strive to build strong relationships with my clients before their big day. Whether through an engagement session or a dedicated Facebook group, I aim to establish trust and understanding. By the time they’re walking down the aisle, I want them to feel comfortable having me capture their special moments like a friend would – minus the potential mishaps that can come with it.

Behind the lens, I’m invested in my clients’ success and will stop at nothing to ensure their wedding day runs smoothly. Case in point: a unique offbeat wedding I shot back in January, which required some last-minute problem-solving. Just two days prior, I was on the phone with the bride fine-tuning our plan of attack, including tackling her TARDIS cake topper conundrum.

As it turned out, my own Doctor Who Yahtzee game sitting nearby proved to be the perfect icebreaker – and a testament to the power of connection.

Wait, you provided the cake topper for your photo clients? OMG, are they cutting their cake with a Klingon bat’leth?

Tribesmaid Mermaidtheta shares her glowing review of Angie’s photography skills, highlighting the ease with which Angie captured stunning shots throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. What’s equally impressive is Angie’s ability to navigate Mermaidtheta’s family dynamics with grace and poise, earning praise from all involved.

You know what we should do? We should kick this “Reading Rainbow” style, like, “Angie is great, but ‘You don’t have to take my word for it!’”

The winter wonderland wedding that took place in Central Park last December was a fairytale come true – at first glance. The snowy backdrop and picturesque scenery were perfect, but the biting wind off the lake had everyone bracing for the chill. One bride’s account of her special day revealed just how harsh the conditions were: ‘We rushed through photos as quickly as possible. By the time it was time to head to the reception, I was on the verge of tears from the cold.

But Angie, my savior, allowed me to seek refuge in her coat, tucking my icy hands under her arms for warmth.’

Wow, that’s personalized service!

Wow, that
Wow, that

As I let my fiancée get hands-on with my underarms during our winter wonderland celebration, it was only natural that she’d want to get cozy. After all, it was freezing outside! Another couple’s experience echoed mine, with their wedding photographer, Angie, going above and beyond to capture every detail – no matter how small. Her keen eye for capturing the perfect shot had everyone involved beaming with delight. The end result?

A photo album that transported us right back to that magical day, reliving all the laughter and joy that went into making our special moment unforgettable.

Okay, so we know you’re awesome; your offbeat clients say you’re a tremendous value. How should people get in touch?

Okay, so we know you
