But first, Amanda and Matilda’s love story:

But first, Amanda and Matilda
But first, Amanda and Matilda

I’ll never forget the serendipitous encounter that brought Matilda into my life. We initially connected on Tinder, but after a lunch date, we both felt like we were out of each other’s league and didn’t speak for six months. Little did I know, fate would bring us together again at Daku Con in 2018. As we crossed paths in the elevator, Matilda complimented my cosplay, and I couldn’t help but look up from my phone to ask if she was the same Matilda from our Tinder date all those years ago!

She was, and as we spent the rest of the day together, I knew I was smitten. The next day, I asked her on a date, and the rest is history. I’m grateful to have her by my side. Planning our wedding was an exhilarating yet stressful experience. We decided to take on the task ourselves, attending numerous bridal shows and creating a comprehensive wedding planning binder that proved invaluable in keeping us organized.

With Matilda’s support, we were able to share the burden and make sure every detail came together seamlessly. As we navigated the final stretch of preparations, I felt grateful to have her by my side. In the end, it was all worth it – having our loved ones surround us as we celebrated our love made the day truly unforgettable.

The Pioneer Museum in downtown Colorado Springs played host to Amanda’s special day. As a crafty bride-to-be, she put her creative skills to use by designing and creating many of the signs and decorations that added to the venue’s charm. With the help of her wedding party, the space was transformed into a beautiful setting for the ceremony.

For out-of-town guests who might be feeling the effects of Colorado Springs’ 6,000-foot elevation, bottled oxygen was on hand to ensure everyone could breathe easy and enjoy the celebration.

As the ceremony unfolded upstairs in the historic courthouse, Patrick, a dear friend to the couple, took his place as officiant. The wedding party made their grand entrance, with all eyes on the bride-to-be. Matilda emerged first, her excitement palpable as she caught sight of her soon-to-be-wife, Amanda, for the first time that day. But it was Amanda’s reaction that left a lasting impression.

As she beheld Matilda, tears streamed down her face, and she uttered words that would stay with everyone present: ‘The room could have been empty, and I wouldn’t have noticed. All I could see was her.’ The two lovebirds shared a tender embrace, as their gathered friends and family bore witness to the emotional moment.

With hearts full of joy and love, Matilda and Amanda made their way to the arch at the front of the courtroom, ready to declare their vows and seal their union in the presence of those they held dear.

Following the ceremony, we ventured outside to capture memories amidst the picturesque flower gardens. We also took a few moments to snap photos within the venue’s striking interior, admiring the intricately designed marble columns and ornate windows that add to its distinct charm. The grand entrance down the majestic staircase set the tone for an unforgettable evening, which unfolded with a sumptuous buffet dinner and lively dancing, culminating in a heartwarming cat and dog toss.

9 inclusive alternatives to the bouquet and garter toss

Instead of the traditional bouquet and garter toss, couples are increasingly opting for more modern and inclusive ways to celebrate their special day. One innovative approach is to replace this age-old custom with a fun and interactive experience that involves all guests, not just the newlyweds.

For instance, some couples have substituted the bouquet toss with a group dance or a champagne toast, while others have replaced the garter toss with a hilarious scavenger hunt or a heartfelt speech from friends and family.

Vendors:

The wedding party’s vendors were carefully curated to bring the couple’s vision to life. At the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum, a unique setting that added character and charm to the celebration. To complete the look, Something New Boutique provided the dresses, while Art of Bridal Couture offered both jewelry and alteration services. For hair styling, Hana from Eden Salon brought her expertise, with makeup expert @alicessense adding the finishing touches.

The sweet treats were courtesy of Picnic Basket’s cake and catering, and Canva’s signage helped guide guests through the festivities. And to capture every special moment, Aeron Reinhardt Photography was on hand to preserve the memories.
