The Sweetest Vintage Country Queer Wedding Youll See Today

Sasha Landskov’s unique wedding story began with Trisha, her offbeat partner, who just so happened to be Tina, a Ship’s Officer. The date and location of their special day were set for October 17, 2015 at Larson’s Barn in McGregor, MN.

The rustic charm of a vintage country harvest theme perfectly captured the essence of a picturesque lake setting in northern Minnesota. Our goal was to infuse the celebration with a sense of nostalgia and whimsy, while also incorporating meaningful family traditions that held special significance for each of us. As a Minnesotan through and through, Trisha brought her own regional flair to the occasion, complemented by Tina’s Italian-French Canadian heritage.

The venue itself, typically used for lively polka dances, was transformed into an enchanting atmosphere with vintage lace, antlers, twinkling lights, candles, and an assortment of dried flowers and fall foliage. With a keen eye on detail, we took it upon ourselves to create DIY masterpieces – including corsages, boutonnieres, favors, and table numbers – that reflected our unique personalities and the joyous occasion.

Our ceremony was made even more special by the presence of an old friend of Trisha’s, who performed the ritual with care and sincerity. Instead of a traditional ring exchange, we opted for a beautiful handfasting ceremony, where our hands were bound together with cords that we had braided ourselves while apart.

This unique gesture symbolized our commitment to each other, despite the physical distance that often separates us (Tina spends several months at a time working on freighters on the Great Lakes). The atmosphere was further enriched by thoughtful readings from Tina’s mom and Trisha’s brother Jansen, who borrowed an old Apache creed from their parents’ wedding ceremony.

In a sweet surprise, Tina had written her vows months in advance, keeping them hidden until the last moment, while Trisha waited until the night before the wedding to write hers. Her promise to be ‘truthful in all things — even shoe shopping’ added a touch of humor and authenticity to our vows, making the ceremony all the more unforgettable.

Trisha’s transformation was a remarkable one, as she learned to let go of her worries and simply enjoy the experience. Her journey served as a valuable lesson in the importance of savoring special moments and not getting bogged down by trivial concerns. Meanwhile, Tina found that with determination and perseverance, she could overcome any obstacle and achieve her goals.

As Trisha’s anxiety melted away on the big day, she became the epitome of calmness, teaching us all to take things as they come and appreciate the beauty in the present. It was a poignant reminder that the little things truly don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. In fact, it’s the memories we make along the way that ultimately shape our experiences. As we look back on that special day, we’re reminded to cherish those moments, as they can quickly become fuzzy with time.

When it came to capturing the special moments of their big day, photographer Sasha Landskov was behind the lens. The happy couple’s attire was carefully curated with a beautiful dress from David’s Bridal and Tina’s suit from Starz Men’s Shops. The rustic charm of Larson’s Barn provided the perfect backdrop for the celebration. A sweet treat was also in order, courtesy of Nelly Belly’s Sweet Shop, which crafted a stunning cake that was topped off with a whimsical topper from Melabo Wed.

And let’s not forget the food – a delicious piezzea was served, courtesy of Log Home Wood Fired Pizza.
